How great is Manchester? This great!

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is, unless it's Manchester and then it's champion.

Fortunate enough to work with businesses all over the city, we wanted to reflect on the place oft known for it's rain or it's football teams. Oh, it's so much more!

It doesn't matter if you are planning on visiting Manchester for a short break or unpacking and staying for the rest of your life, you'll never get bored of the capital of the North.

Let's start with eating: Cool hipster bars, cocktail lounges, quirky cafes and amazing restaurants are popping up in Manchester at a far greater rate than in London. There is something for everyone and every budget.

If you want to taste your beverage before it hits the bars, there are loads of cool micro breweries to visit and Boddingtons itself, is also famously made in Greater Manchester.

The celebrated music scene, which launched legendary bands like Oasis and The Stone Roses, continues to see the Apollo, MEN and Manchester Academy packed with events from huge national and international acts, but there are also a variety of cool little gigs dotted around the city showcasing up and coming talent if that's your thing.

Sport is something the city is famous for, and we certainly can't fail to thank ManU and City for that. The Commonwealth Games legacy also left us the Manchester Aquatics Centre, National Squash Centre and Manchester Velodrome. It's difficult not to find the sport you are looking for with so many amazing facilities, coaches and clubs. You can also get to it using our excellent and safe transport links.

Architecture is a glorious mixture of old and new and, let's face it, ridiculously cheap compared to the capital. It's totally achievable to have a great little apartment in the city for approximately four times less than in London. Four times!

Data shows it's actually about 30% cheaper to live here full stop so, with salaries not being too far behind its southern counterpart, it seems madness not to.

There are a myriad of lovely buildings to visit, such as the Whitworth Art Gallery, which won museum of the year in 2015, the Lowry and the Free Trade Hall. The £25 million HOME arts centre is also an amazing space for new talent, which is pretty much what you'd expect with a patron like Danny Boyle.

If you can hang around until 2019, there will be a new £110 million art space created to host Manchester International Arts Festival; bringing yet more interesting trade and people to the area.

If you plan to be one of the 80,000 students here, did you know that the university has been home to 25 Nobel Prize winners? That's third in the country, only coming behind Oxford and Cambridge.

In addition to all the activities listed, Manchester is also a shopper's paradise, with niche little boutiques and the hugely popular Trafford Centre. If you want to get out of the hustle and bustle, however, the Peak District is right on your doorstep. For a change of scenery, Leeds and Liverpool are less than an hour away.

With such great transport infrastructure, house prices and a diverse array of businesses, people and sources of entertainment, it's no surprise that it's recently been named as the best place to live for two consecutive years.

Samuel L Johnson once wrote 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life'. We're pretty sure he should have visited Manchester.
