A marketing quickie!
Marketing is pivotal in determining the success of any business. However, during prolonged periods of financial struggle, it’s often one of the first areas to get the proverbial chop. Fret not, tight budgets don’t necessarily have to mean the end to your marketing endeavours.

The Konductor team is keen to evangelise on the merits of marketing, particularly activities you can kick start yourself.

Here is a run-down of our favourite, yet inexpensive, marketing tips.

Double “u”, double “u”, double “u”, dot….
We are living in a digital world and you are a dig-i-tal girl.
There are still large numbers of SMEs that don’t have an online presence or blog. Not only does an online presence increase access to an extended audience, it also embeds trust and, when used properly, boost sales. We’re big fans of WordPress and Moz.

One man and his blog
Creating a blog on your website is a quick and easy way of communicating. In the immortal words of Magnus Magnusson, you have a specialist subject, right? Then get writing or snapping. Curating your own content is a great way to appear knowledgeable about the sector you operate in. Regular contributions will also create an impression of a friendly and open business.

Get social
Social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter…to name but four. Each and every one is a powerful tool that can connect your business to a mass audience…or a small, targeted audience. The best thing about them? Well, they’re free! More than half of the UK use social media in some form, so the opportunity to attract followers that are interested in your business, regardless of their location, is worth it. Kill two birds with one stone, use your social platform to drive traffic to your business’ website.

Let someone else tell your story
The proof is in the pudding. It’s true. Providing that your business does exactly what it says on the tin, is vital for building credibility and trust. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with bragging about how good you are. Testimonials and case studies, online and offline, do wonders for your reputation.

Don’t stop. Online and offline. Attending trade events, delivering workshops or entering online forums all present exciting opportunities to meet fresh people and forge lasting relationships. Win new business, yes, but converse with fellow businesses, too. Who knows what you could be missing.
